The event, presented by Cricket Wireless, will feature guest appearances by SLS pros including Paul Rodriguez, a living skateboard legend and one of the elite street skateboarders in Street League Skateboarding. Rodriguez, known around the world as “P-Rod,” and other SLS pros will meet and greet the local community, skate a demo, sign autographs and skate with fans. The event will also include music, food and free giveaways.
“We are so excited to bring elite SLS pros out to the SLS certified plaza in Kennesaw,” said Brian Atlas, president of Street League Skateboarding. “Building the plaza in conjunction with the city of Kennesaw brought a globally recognized skatepark design and important landmark for the community of skateboarding that we look forward to celebrating with everyone here this September.”
The state-of-the-art skatepark is the first and only Street League Skateboarding Certified Skate Plaza east of Denver, Colo. The 40,000-square foot all-concrete permanent facility, in Swift-Cantrell Park at 3140 Old 41 Highway in Kennesaw, consists of the Street League Skateboarding plaza as well as the more traditional flow course and bowl. These elements provide challenges for skateboarders of all skill levels. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and there is no charge to use the facility.
Street League Skateboarding is the first-ever professional league for street skateboarding. The SLS season features 25 of the world’s most exciting skateboarders competing in an easy-to-follow, ISX instant scoring format on one-of-a-kind concrete skate plazas, all for the largest prize purse in skateboarding history. Each arena stop of the 2014 SLS season will air live on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sport Go with a live international webcast on Streetleague.com.
