Pope senior pitcher Kelly Barnhill found a way to break her own record of 21 strikeouts in a single game, and there are 21 outs to play with in a regulation seventh inning game.

Barnhill took advantage of the extra-inning game against River Ridge with 23 total strikeouts in an 1-0 win over the Lady Knights. She allowed just one hit and one base runner reached on a dropped third strike.

Strengths: Her rise ball is her best pitch

Working on: Currently developing a curve ball

College plans: Deciding between Florida and Stanford

What she loves about her sport: The way everyone can contribute to the team and how one player messing up or doing well doesn’t win or lose a game.

Her favorite softball memory: Over the summer with the East Cobb Bullets, I got to play a championship game of the Triple Crown that was televised.

Another sport she’d enjoy: Volleyball
