South Cobb rallied for five runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday and beat McEachern 9-8 to keep its season-opening undefeated streak alive. McEachern took an 8-4 lead after scoring three runs in the top of the sixth.

Terilyn Harris walked to start the bottom of the seventh for South Cobb (5-0), which had 14 hits.

After a flyout, back-toback singles from Kaylan Hicks and Tyonna Williams loaded the bases.

Following a strikeout, Mariah Byk hit a first pitch three-run triple to the rightcenter field gap to trim the deficit to 8-7.

After Asia Moore singled to score Byk with the tying run, and Emily Cargle walked, Becky Collins’ RBI single plated Moore for the win. Moore (3-0) gave up eight runs — four earned — on 11 hits and struck out three with eight walks. She also had three hits and an RBI. Harris batted 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Hicks and Byk had two hits.

Khayla Green was 2-for-2 with four RBIs for McEachern, while Abigail Cherry was 3-for-4. South Cobb will host Marietta today, while McEachern is at Kennesaw Mountain on Tuesday.

Sprayberry 6, Kell 5 (8 inn.): Julia Abney, who batted 2-for-4 with an RBI, scored the winning run off an error in the top of the eighth to help Sprayberry earn the Region 7AAAAA victory and remain undefeated to start the season.

Trailing 3-0, the Lady Yellow Jackets (4-0, 3-0) sent 10 batters to the plate in their five-run fifth inning. The Lady Longhorns scored twice in the bottom half of the frame to knot the contest at 5-all, and it remained that way until Abney’s game-winner, which came with two outs.

Nicole VeCuircio was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI for Sprayberry.

Lindsey Jenkins had two hits and scored twice.

Charlie Smith, Payton Wade and Katie Reed each had an RBI.

Smith (3-0) gave up five runs — two earned — off six hits and struck out five in eight innings. Abby Glass had two hits and an RBI to pace Kell (1-2, 1-2). Kasey Blair had a hit and two RBIs.

Sprayberry will host North Atlanta today, while Kell is at North Springs.
