Mr. William “Bill” G. Medlin, age 83, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, August 12th. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, August 15th at Bethany United Methodist Church in Smyrna with Revs’ Susan Taylor and Terry Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. Mr. Medlin retired as a Dept. Manager for Lockheed Aeronautical after 30 plus years of service. He was a resident of Smyrna for 59 years. He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Shangri-La and USS Antietam Aircraft Carriers. He was a member of The Creepers Car Club in Smyrna and a member of Good Sam Covered Bridge Chapter Camping Club. He was a member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church. Surviving are: Son & Daughter-in-law - David & Susan Medlin of Marietta, 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law - Kathy & Darryl McGlon of Powder Springs, Andrea & Jim Carman of Powder Springs, Brother-in-law & wife Rex R. Ruff and wife Marcia of Acworth, 8 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, Numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Tranquility Hospice, 4040 Hospital West Drive, Austell, GA 30106, or Bethany United Methodist Church, 760 Hurt Rd., Smyrna, GA 30082. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday, August 14th at Carmichael Funeral Home (770)435-4467
