The Cobb County Water System reported a wastewater manhole overflow, resulting in about 100 gallons discharged into Lake Acworth, occurred at 9:59 a.m. Monday at 4200 Nance Road in Acworth. The overflow, which was the result of gravel, was stopped at 10:20 a.m.

Water System workers observed on arrival that the overflow was coming from a concrete barrel and manhole ring that was hit by a contractor in a road work project. Workers unstopped the line with a jet machine, cleaned the area with a vactor truck and limed and sprayed the spilled area along a storm ditch with enzyme.
