Metro area residents have become two of the betterknown child models for backto- school fashion merchandise of a nationally-known children’s shoe retailer.

Dallas brothers Johnnie Gordon, 8, and Jaylon Gordon, 7, sons of Johnnie and Felicia Gordon, have again become the “face” of Rack Room Shoes.

The boys are featured on the national retailer’s website for its back-to-school advertising and are featured in newspaper inserts and in-store signage for the 385 Rack Room Shoe stores nationwide.

The Charlotte, N.C.based company features real customers instead of professional models in their advertising.

The Gordon brothers modeled back-to-school shoe fashions for Rack Room in 2012, and again sought the job in 2013, when the retailer asked former models to enter a competition as part of its 10th anniversary promotion of its ad campaign featuring non-professionals.

Rack Room customers also liked the brothers as Johnnie and Jaylon were the top-voted family on the retailer’s Facebook page.

“Jaylon and I feel great about being chosen again as it has been a great and amazing experience,” Johnnie said.

“They took a lot of pictures of us in Rack Room Shoe merchandise, and we met a lot of new friends.”

When asked to describe his modeling experience, Jayson summed it up in four words.

“It was a blast,” he said.

Jaylon said he and his brother again got to do what they both enjoy — modeling kid’s back-to-school shoe fashions.

The brothers also received a $5,000 check from Rack Room to donate to their favorite charity. They selected Marietta-based Voice Today Inc.; an organization that seeks to halt child sexual abuse.

The pair donated the check in a special ceremony last week at the Rack Room store in Hiram Pavilion shopping center on Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway.

The brothers said they were proud of their choice for the donation.

“I feel like we are helping children find their voice and get justice,” Johnnie said.

In addition, the boys received gift cards for Rack Room merchandise.

Both boys said they loved to see their faces on Rack Room store advertising, their mother said.

Gordon said it was actually a collection of Rack Room Shoes employees nationwide who selected the brothers for the company’s national advertising campaign.

“I am grateful to Rack Room Shoes for their selection of Johnnie and Jaylon and also for giving my sons the opportunity to make this charitable donation,” she said.
