An unidentified woman has been arrested after Cobb police say she stole a patrol car and drove it to downtown Atlanta on Sunday.

Sgt. Dana Pierce said the woman had been stopped on Windy Hill Road near its exit onto Interstate 75.

After an altercation, Pierce said she managed to steal the police car and drove south on I-75 toward Atlanta.

She crashed into several cars on the interstate before finally coming to a halt on Spring Street. Pierce called it a “hit-and-run situation” and said he believed multiple people were treated for injuries.

The woman was taken to Grady hospital, Pierce said. Once she is released, she will be booked into the Cobb jail.

When officers get into fights with suspects, stuff happens. But it makes you wonder... if Cobb Police wasn't hundreds of officers short, would this have happen?

Hard to hide County Police issues when it's on the front page.
