The Georgia Municipal Association has awarded the City of Kennesaw a $6,000 safety and liability management grant to purchase officer body armor.

The grant program, introduced in 2000, provides financial incentives to assist cities in improving their employee safety and general public liability loss control efforts through training or the purchase of equipment or service.

The cops in one of the top ten "safest" cities in Georgia require body armor.

Safest Cities. Riiiight.

This story more accurately represents Kennesaw than some listing in a fake "top 10 safest cities" list published by some real estate company

Sounds like a waste of money. Only Kennesaw cop killed was shot by a training officer, not a perp. KPD is used for blocking off streets for Pigs and Pork festivals and writing traffic tickets. Might as well have saved the 6K for something useful.
