DEAR EDITOR:

Sociology: The science of society, social institutions and social relationships.

Dr. Melvyn Fein who is a professor of sociology at Kennesaw State is once again trying to dissuade the public from voting Democratic in his weekly column, this time titled, “Young Women vote Democratic, and Here’s Why” (July 28 MDJ). I’m surprised he didn’t mention President Obama, since Fein is usually bashing him.

Fein is pretty presumptuous in being able to know why women of any age vote a certain way or how they think. I guess his Ph.D. in sociology gives him the authority. I’m surprised that his school does not frown upon their professors from writing negative and biased columns all the time.

Does Fein truly believe that all Democrats are far-left liberals? Does that mean all Republicans are far-right conservatives? I believe that any good legislator needs to be able to cross party lines, compromise, and work together for the good of the public.

Maybe it’s time for Georgia to have new leadership and new representation in Washington. It’s time for new faces and new ideas. Mr. Fein shouldn’t be afraid of that and neither should we.
