First Friday Art Walk this Friday in Marietta

The First Friday Art Walk, sponsored by The Branding Project — a membership organization representing merchants, arts, restaurants, entertainment and all professionals who work together to promote the historic Marietta Square, will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. The event will feature more than 30 artists showing their work in front of numerous merchants, restaurants and galleries who host them.

In Atherton Square, behind Cool Beans and Hemingways, the Art Walk will present Tavern in the gARTen, selling beer and wine, with Jennings Rock Band performing from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by acoustic vocalist Tony Hall, who performs a mix of originals, covers, blues and jazz on guitar and harmonica, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tables and chairs are available for all guests.

Additional musicians and performing artists will be found thorughout the Square, including interpretive fire dancing starting at dusk in front of dk Gallery, 25 West Park Square NE in Marietta.

Art Walk Ambassadors, wearing white Art Walk aprons, will have maps and give directions.

There will also be two artist contests to encourage artists to show their best work. The “Best of Show” will award $200 and a chance to be exhibited in one of three galleries, dk Gallery, 2 Rules Fine Art and the Red Door Art Gallery and Studio. The “People’s Choice” award will go to the artist who gets the most “likes” on the Art Walk Facebook page.
