The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, 2829 Cherokee Street in Kennesaw, will have the second annual Railroad Rendezvous, a family-friendly event featuring a range of indoor and outdoor events from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
Some of the events include The Hobo Jungle, featuring re-enactors offering tales about life on the rails, teaching the Hobo language and helping guests make their own bindle sack; Operation Lifesaver, a nonprofit organization offering safety information and tours of its Operation Lifesaver Mobile Educational Exhibit; outdoor games, sack races, a ring toss and a bean bag toss; slot car track; and displays of G-scale and O-gauge model train layouts.
For a separate fee, participants also have the chance to climb aboard The General locomotive, which was made famous during the Civil War’s Great Locomotive Chase.
Admission is $7 adults, $6 seniors, $5 for children 4 to 12, and free for children three and under and Museum members. The cost to climb aboard the General is $5 for all guests 4 years and older, including members.
