The family friendly concert starts at 8 p.m. and streets close around 6 p.m. Inflatables will be set up for children.
“(American Flyers) label themselves as a party band. They’ll play a wide variety of music, lots of good dance tunes,” said Rich Buss, director of Parks, Recreation, & Facilities for City of Marietta.
The concerts, sponsored jointly by the City and the Marietta Development Authority, are conducted the last Friday of the month during May through September except for August when the show is held the week before due to Labor Day weekend.
“The concerts are very popular,” Buss said.
“People enjoy the venue because it’s open. It’s an all-comers type event where you can come bring a picnic basket, choose the type of food you want. It can be peanut butter sandwiches or shrimp salad. It fits everybody’s budget. Some people even contract with a caterer to bring the table service and bring the food over to them. There’s no charge to get into the concert. If you’re not renting a table, you can come for free,” Buss said.
The venue allows people to socialize with friends. “It’s not a concert hall setting where you have to sit there quiet. There’s a lot of socializing that goes on,” he said.
Table reservations will start at 8 a.m. on the first working day of the month. Online reservations, the preferred method, may be made at mariettaga.gov/city/residents/parks/specialevents/concertseries or call (770) 794-5601. Personal tables or plastic groundcovers are prohibited inside Glover Park.
Glover Park is at 50 North Park Square, Marietta.
