Evan and Carter Gillon, 17, of Smyrna, have earned the highest award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. Carter Gillon received the award after earning 34 merit badges including a Bronze Palm, and completing a landscaping and beautification project for the children’s playground at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta for his Eagle Scout Service Project.
Evan Gillon received the award after earning 32 merit badges and completing a bicycle parking area for St.
Luke’s Episcopal Church and the installation of a landscaped garden for the St. Luke’s Training and Counseling Center in Atlanta for his Eagle Scout Service Project.
As members of Troop 370 chartered to the North Atlanta Area Council, Carter and Evan Gillon are among the about 7 percent of all Boy Scouts who ever achieve this rank. Carter and Evan Gillon are the sons of David and Anna Gillon. As leaders in both Scouting and the community, the Gillon brothers served as Patrol Leaders and Instructors. They are rising seniors at Wheeler High School, Center for Advanced Studies STEM Magnet program.
