KENNESAW — A suspect in a shooting at a Kennesaw bar that left one man dead turned himself in on Thursday morning, said Scott Luther, a spokesman for the Kennesaw police.

Lewarner Jaron Scott, 28, of Atlanta, is charged with one count of murder and three counts of aggravated assault after a July 12 shooting at Diamond Dave’s Bar.

Kevin Compton, 27, died July 13 from a single gunshot wound he received the day before, police say.

According to investigators, Kennesaw police responded to reports of a disturbance at Diamond Dave’s bar off Cobb Parkway at 2:42 a.m. Saturday.

Police say their initial investigation revealed a firearm had been discharged during an altercation, striking Compton.

Kennesaw issued an arrest warrant for Scott on July 13, and he turned himself in at the Kennesaw Police Department early Thursday, Luther said.

Scott is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
