SMYRNA — Police are searching for a 9-year-old boy they believe was abducted by his father Tuesday afternoon in Smyrna.

Smyrna police responded to a call 35-year-old Ryan Stow was threatening to commit suicide Tuesday afternoon at a home on Oakdale Drive, but no one was there when they arrived at about 4 p.m., said Officer Christopher Graeff, a spokesman for Smyrna police.

Police say Stow left the home in Smyrna before they got there, taking his son, Braiden Cole Stow, with him. Police believe the father and son are still in the Smyrna area and could be at a campsite.

Braiden Stow, who is 4-feet, 8-inches tall, weighs 60 to 65 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes, was last seen wearing shorts, a T-shirt and blue and yellow slippers. Ryan Stow is 6-feet, 1-inch tall, weighs 160 pounds and has green eyes and several tattoos.

Police said the father is driving a burgundy 1995 Buick LaSabre with the Georgia license plate 34618QC.

Police advise anyone who sees the father to use extreme caution and call 911 immediately.

Anyone with any information about the missing father and son can call the Smyrna Police Department at (404) 596-1973.
