Police are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery in Austell on Monday evening.

According to investigators, a black man of “stocky build” entered a TitleMax off Austell Road and immediately took out a handgun.

Police say the man, who was wearing a cloth mask that hid his facial features, demanded money from employees while brandishing his gun before fleeing the business on foot in an unknown direction.

About 20 minutes later, detectives say a man believed to be the same suspect arrived at another TitleMax location, this one off South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, and attempted another robbery.

However, employees at this TitleMax had been informed of the incident at the other location and had since locked their doors, police say.

Investigators say the suspect drew a handgun from his waistband and tried to get into the building before fleeing in what was described as possibly an older model silver Chevrolet Impala or Ford Crown Victoria.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on these cases to call (770) 499-3945 or Greater Atlanta Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous, and possibly receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
