The North Cobb Senior Center, 4100 Highway 293 in Acworth, will have two programs Wednesday for seniors, ages 55 and up.

In his Food For Thought — Senior Scams presentation, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., attorney Chris Brannon will address common scams against seniors and how to combat or prevent them. Specific topics include: mail scams — how to separate legitimate offers from outright scams; telephone scams — how to recognize a phone scam and how to effectively block unwanted callers; email/computer scams — learn common email scams and how to protect one’s self and others from having their sensitive information compromised; and theft by family and caregivers — learn the risk factors and warning signs for theft of a senior’s assets and how to prevent this kind of theft.

The event is $4 Cobb residents and $5 non-residents. Price includes lunch.

AccuQuest Hearing Center will also provide free hearing screenings, free battery replacements and free hearing aid cleanings from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The screenings will be by appointment only, and registration is required.

Call (770) 975-7740.
