Police are investigating a bank robbery that took place Monday afternoon off Sandy Plains Road in Roswell.

According to investigators, a middle-aged white man wearing khaki shorts and a baseball cap walked into Fifth Third Bank and approached a woman working at the teller window.

After asking to cash a check, police say the suspect demanded cash from the register.

Investigators say the suspect said he had stashed a bomb outside the bank, although police were unable to locate an explosive device.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled to nearby Nicky’s Diner, police say, where he drove west on Sandy Plains in a small, silver, four-door car, which police indicate may have been a Honda.

Anyone with information is asked to call (770) 499-3945. Callers may remain anonymous and possibly receive a cash reward of up to $2,000 by contacting Greater Atlanta Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS.
