MARIETTA — A crash on Interstate 75 north Monday evening temporarily shut down all lanes of traffic, Marietta police say.

Investigators say the collision, which occurred about 6 p.m. between Delk Road and South Marietta Parkway, began when Abdoul Tamba, 40, of Dacula, steered his 1999 GMC Sierra truck into the left lane when the traffic in front of his vehicle came to a stop.

According to police, Tamba’s truck struck the right rear of a 1998 tractor pulling a 53-foot trailer.

Police say Tamba sustained “serious injuries” in the crash and was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital, where is now listed in serious but stable condition.

A male passenger in Tamba’s truck was not hurt, investigators say.

I-75 has since been reopened, and investigators are still determining if charges will be filed in the incident. Anyone with any information regarding this crash is urged to contact Officer Brian Wallace at (770) 794-5266.
