CUMBERLAND — Warrants released Sunday morning show both of Cooper Harris’ parents researched child car deaths online before he died.

Justin Ross Harris was charged with felony murder and cruelty to children after Cobb police say he left his 22-month-old son in his car for about seven hours June 18, when temperatures reached the 90s.

Warrants released previously showed Harris admitted to researching child deaths inside vehicles and what temperature it needs to be for that to occur. New warrants say his wife, who has not been charged, performed similar research.

“Leanna Harris, the child’s mother, was also questioned regarding the incident and made similar statements regarding researching in car deaths and how it occurs,” the warrants read.

Police would not say why Leanna Harris wasn’t charged or if she was ever considered a suspect.

“The wife was questioned by detectives when this incident occurred and as you know this investigation is still active and ongoing,” said Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman when asked about Leanna Harris’ role in the case.

The warrants show police searched an iPhone, a Dell computer, a Google Chromecast device, a Lenova T530 ThinkPad, an Apple MacBook and an iPad from Justin Ross Harris’ office, home and his 2011 Hyundai Tucson.

In a description of the crime scene, the warrants read, “It was obvious that the child was deceased.”

Justin Harris said he was supposed to drop his son off at day care that morning, but he didn’t. He did stop at a Chick-fil-A in Vinings with his son near The Home Depot headquarters, where he worked as a Web developer for the company, according to the search warrants.

Cooper Harris was left in the car from 9:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., the warrant says, when his father discovered he was dead while driving to meet friends.

“Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen,” the warrant stated.

Justin Harris, 33, has been in jail without bond since that day, and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 3.

Police also looked for trace evidence, such as fingerprints, blood, DNA, hairs or fibers in his car, as well as “paperwork or writings related to the crime of homicide and cruelty to children,” according to the warrant.

As far as I know, with the facts made public to date, by the Police themselves ..he's facing Negligent Homicide at the very least. With the possibility it could get a whole lot worse for both he and his wife. It just depends on the state of Georgia's interpretation of Negligence, as far as sentencing goes..

So while it MIGHT not be First of Second Degree it is for sure Guilt, based on neglectful behavior..

I hope we don't have a Nifong in the DA office. Remember the Duke University Lacrosse players fiasco a couple of years back? This case just isn't coming together. No big life insurance policy on the child. No history of drug or alcohol abuse with the parents or domestic violence. Gainfully employed and well liked at work. No one at his place of employment has said he acted odd the day of the incident all seemed normal. This guy either has to be the coldest blooded killer ever or he is being railroaded by the DA for political gain. Time will tell.

You're correct time will tell....but to say this case isn't coming together..this early in the case, is just not true.

There are MANY aspects of this case that don't make any sense. Let's just wait and see which way the evidence takes us first.

The comments the mother made at the funeral are nuts, not wanting the child back. Sparing the child from middle school and high school those were difficult times for her. You don't sacrifice your child to heaven, you give them up for adoption, if you can't raise them to make it through middle school and high school. Of course, you were picked on if you belonged to the church of nut cases,,and had strange believes like these that are anti social.

Now, I have another question why is a dietician allowing her child to be fed breakfast at Chickfillet. Cheero's in the back seat, with a sippy cup of milk is a better . Was this his last meal?

How many computers and computer toys do two people who are saving for a house need ?.

father going to meet friends on Friday at 4:00.?

it sounds like ha having a child got in the way.

I've always wondered about the mother. Looks like she is involved, especially after the statements made at the funeral. I think they planned it together and dad carried it out. I think it's only a matter of time until they arrest the mother, and they should.

In the time he spent researching what could happen if a child was left in the car unattended, he should've written a note to himself and put it on the dash of his vehicle. NEVER leave a child unattended in your vehicle!
