Miss Cobb County 2014, Taylor Voyles, was named first runner-up in the 70th Miss Georgia Pageant in Columbus on June 21. In an exciting finish, the new Miss Georgia, Maggie Bridges — who was Miss Cobb County last year — was selected the 2014 Miss Georgia. Bridges represented Capital City this year. She will now move on to the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in September.

There were 39 women from across the Peach State vying for the title. Voyles, 22, is a senior biology major at Kennesaw State University. The new Miss Georgia, 21, is a senior at the Georgia Institute of Technology. They are the best of friends and actually shared an apartment last year while attending college.

The new Miss Cobb County will be selected in the 57th annual Miss Cobb County Pageant at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, Cobb County Civic Center on Sept. 6.

For contestant information, contact Gene Phillips at (770) 435-6378 or misscobbcounty@yahoo.com.

More than $25,000 in cash scholarships and prizes will be awarded. Contestants must be 17 to 23 years old, a high school graduate and single.
