Bowlers can practice their strikes and spares for 50-cents a game and 100-percent of the proceeds will be donated to Bowlers to Veterans Link. Additional events are scheduled for July 22 and Aug. 19.
In its inaugural year, the program raised $30,000 nationally for BVL, a charity founded in 1942 by bowlers to give back to members of the armed services. BVL serves veterans of all ages and also works to raise spirits for active duty and recuperating soldiers, providing recreational activities like carpet bowling for troops to enjoy in their downtime.
Other activities provided by the organization include sending soldiers to ballgames, offering painting classes and bringing therapy animals for a visit. Since its founding, the charity has teamed up with companies like Brunswick to raise over $40 million for American soldiers.
Last year, $24,000 was raised nationwide by Brunswick bowlers.
