The city of Marietta will have events throughout the month of June to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War.

During the Sherman at the Gates Weekend this weekend and the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain Weekend running June 27 to 29, the public can come to the Marietta Square for living history, encampments, entertainment and guided tours of the Civil War hospital locations.

As part of the Sherman at the Gates Weekend, Union and Confederate soldiers will be camped on the Marietta Square with musket firing demonstrations and honor salutes at 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. now through June 29, except for Monday. At 8 p.m., attendees can hear “The Story of Marietta, Georgia” in real-time and watch the firing of an honor guard.
