Sen. Hunter Hill (R- Smyrna) has been selected by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle to chair the Georgia Code of Military Justice Senate Study Committee. Over the next several months, this study committee will review whether changes to the Georgia Code of Military Justice will benefit the Georgia National Guard.

The Georgia Code of Military Justice Senate Study Committee was created by the passage of Senate Resolution 1192 during the 2014 legislative session. As stated in the resolution, the committee will be composed of three members of the Senate, as appointed by the Lt. governor.

The committee will also examine the law’s ability to facilitate force integration and interoperability, prepare members being called to federal status to meet their responsibilities and uphold the standards required under the federal Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The committee must report its findings on or before Dec. 1, 2014.
