Cumberland-based SK Commercial Realty announced it has expanded its staff and services by formally creating an investments division.
“While our principals have a strong history and understanding of investment sales and acquisitions, we felt it was prudent to create a formal division to complement SKCR’s existing services. With the addition of Spencer Coan and Jared Barnett, our firm members have now transacted more than $500 million of commercial real estate acquisitions across the United States,” said Hugh Scott III, CEO of SKCR.
Coan, a Buckhead resident, will lead the investments division as senior vice president with Barnett, a Vinings resident, acting as vice president. Together, the team will serve as listing brokers — or buyer representatives — on large commercial transactions. While the team has experience in multi-family and retail assets, the team specializes in office and medical office properties. The team will also offer consulting services for third party owners and investors. Consulting services include, but are not limited to, due diligence, market research, and financial analysis.
Prior to joining SKCR, Coan served as vice president of Investment Sales and was a senior analyst at Ackerman & Co., as well as an acquisitions analyst for Levy Affiliated Holdings in Santa Monica, Calif. In these roles, Coan underwrote nearly $2 billion in real estate assets across the country, helping to acquire over 1.1 million square feet of commercial property. Since 2012, he has completed $150 million of investment sales, earning a position in the top tier of producers in the 2014 Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club.
He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 2010, with concentrations in finance and real estate, and his Bachelor of Arts with distinction at the University of Michigan in 2005, double majoring in organization studies and communications. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), a LEED Green Associate (LEED GA) and a licensed salesperson in Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina.
Coan is also a member of the Atlanta Commercial board of Realtors, CAIA, CCIM, NAIOP and the U.S. Green Building Council. He was a member of the 2012 NAIOP Future Leaders, recipient of the 2009 SIOR Leadership Scholarship Award and coach of the University of Georgia’s NAIOP School Challenge Competition from 2012-14. He volunteers and supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Red Cross and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.
Barnett earned his Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in real estate and development from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration, specializing in real estate, from the University of Georgia.
He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and the ABA Real Estate Section, the Georgia Bar Association and the GBA Real Property Section, the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors and the Urban Land Institute. He supports the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and Habitat for Humanity.
