On Friday, the Friday Morning Men’s Group of Net Work Ministries along with Marietta Country Club co-sponsored the Third Annual Wounded Warriors Golf Outing for 25 Warriors. The Wounded Warriors were given a day of golf along with prizes and a buffet lunch. Many from the community joined the heroes for the event. Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback David Archer attended.

The real-life inspired new play, Trash Day, about a family of hoarders living in Smyrna made its world premiere at Out of Box Theatre on Friday and runs through June 28. The play revolving around the hoarding Wolley family in Smyrna, not only delves into the world of hoarding but also the lives and relationships of those involved with comedic results.

Local playwright Dave Lauby draws on his own neighborhood for inspiration. Out of Box Artistic Director Carolyn Choe directs the production. Brody Rose plays the leading role of James. He is also filming an upcoming movie and in a reoccurring role in the hit TV show, Under the Dome. Travis Young, who plays the play’s bad-guy city official, is hot off his role as Ray in ABC’s new hit series Resurrection. Also featured is local film and voice-over actor Whit Davies as hoarder PawPaw, with director Choe taking on the role of Maw Maw as well. Award-wining Scenic Designer Christopher Dills painstakingly designed the monstrosity that is a hoarders home, as well as the next-door-neighbor’s stoop.

Trash Day runs June 13 to 28, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 3 p.m. Out of Box Theatre is in the Artisan Resource Center at 585 Cobb Pkwy S, Marietta. Tickets are $20 to $25 and can be purchased at or by calling (678) 653-4605.
