MARIETTA — Police say two women have been arrested after children in their care were found living in a roach-infested apartment in Marietta.

According to the arrest warrant, police saw a large amount of clutter, making it difficult to move through the Franklin Road apartment. Police say they also found open and overflowing garbage and poisonous chemicals stored without tops near baby formula in reach of small children.

The apartment was severely infested with roaches of varying sizes and species, police say.

Sharita Washington, 28, of Fairburn and Sharon Wiley, 61, of Marietta, were arrested May 29 on three counts each of contributing to the deprivation of a minor.

The children were placed into protective care, police say.

Washington was released on $1,500 bond. Wiley was released on $5,000 bond.
