DEAR EDITOR:

In responding to the MDJ letter “Connect diet dots with Obamacare,” in which the writer says “the government ... opens the door for them to control what our children eat.”

According to different statistics, 17 percent to 32 percent of our children are overweight or obese. Even the lower percentage is alarming and these conditions are affecting children of younger ages. We see this whenever we see teens and younger children.

This is now the No. 1 concern among parents in the U.S. It is predicted that we may see the first generation that will be less healthy and have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. Obesity costs us millions each year.

There is a difference between help and control. Shouldn’t we all welcome help when our children’s health is at stake?

I truly find it difficult to accept "dietary advice" from anyone - in this case a Michelle Obama - who has a butt larger than mine!

Sarah,

"Shouldn’t we all welcome help when our children’s health is at stake?"

Dear good-hearted lady, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. If you trust government, particularly, this government, to guide, rather than dictate, you have not been following the news.

Or do you feel the CCSD dietitians are inadequate?

"Dear good-hearted lady, the road to hell is paved with good intentions."

And your intentions must not be good, right?

If you trust government, particularly, this government, to guide, rather than dictate, you have not been following the news.

Please. You are obviously following an opinion outlet, not actual news. If you had a shred of objectivity, you might see how much help is apparently needed to curb the trend toward obesity. Bless your heart.

@ REd Westside. Eacly what "actual news" might yoube talking about? The numerous stories of partents and childrens lack of acceptance of the "pseudo-diet" prescribed by "hippo-hips" Obama. Or the other news stories of what her children feast on at lunch time?

In a word, if you need the government's help to decide what food to feed your child, then you should not have a child,

Sincerely meant. I believe the lady wishes well for all. I doubt you do.

And your intentions must not be good, right?

Difficult to understand. Why would my intentions not be good? How can you possibly derive that?

You sir are backbone deficient. You are obviously one wh0 is incapable of standing on your own. If you sacrifice liberty and freedom, even to become obese, you are obviously an invertebrate.

Follow the party line comrade. It does not lead to my door.

How does that help with solving the problem? If you don't have a better solution, then maybe you should not criticize ppl who are trying to help.

You do not seem to care about the obesity problem. You are more concerned with the ideology that anything any Democrat does is wrong, no matter what.

"You sir are backbone deficient. You are obviously one wh0 is incapable of standing on your own. If you sacrifice liberty and freedom, even to become obese, you are obviously an invertebrate."

Freedom is wonderful. But just because you have a right does not mean it is smart to exercise it. You have a right to commit suicide. You have a right to get as fat as you want. You have a right to read only things with which you agree.

"Follow the party line comrade. It does not lead to my door."

Let's see. Reagan signed thwe "Anti Patient Dumping Act" that made it so that your health care costs go up all the time. PPL without insurance go to the emergency room and hospitals have to recoup the money from us. That is socialism. I don't hear you complaining about that.

GWB approved signed the law that gives ALIENS foodstamps. That is socialism. Where's your outrage? M Obama wants to help kids be healthier, and you are on tilt. That shows that you to be a partisan hack who blindly follows the herd and who reads only what he agrees with.

Party line? I don't follow one. I pick each candidate on the issues and platforms. Anyone who has nothing better to offer and whose only platform is to say bad things about other candidates is a loser in my book.
