St. Petersburg, Fla. — An altercation over loud noise left a 25-year-old man from Cobb County dead, according to reports from police and several media outlets.

Atlanta’s Fox 5 says Porter Headlee was killed Sunday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

A release from St. Petersburg’s police did not identify the victim, but described the same series of events in the Fox 5 report, which said Headlee got in an argument with a neighbor about loud noise coming from outside the man’s apartment.

A witness said the neighbor, identified as Lonnie Lee, punched the victim to the ground and then shot him as he got back up, St. Petersburg police said.

An article on BayNews9.com said Lee told authorities he was forced to shoot after the victim, who the website also identifies as Headlee, attacked him.

Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and Lee has been charged with second degree murder.

The Fox 5 report said Headlee was a North Cobb High School graduate who had moved to Florida six months ago for a job.
