William W. Hartsfield (Bill), 85, passed away June 2, 2014. Bill was born in Leeds, Alabama, August 13, 1928. Bill graduated from Auburn University. He served three years in the Air Force. Bill worked for Lockheed for thirty five years. Bill was married to his beloved Barbara for sixty five years. They were childhood friends. Their marriage and relationship was truly inspirational to all the family. Bill and Barbara were members of Midway Presbyterian Church for more than four decades. Bill is survived by Barbara, two children, daughter, Yolonda and her husband Mike Gaskins, son, Bob Hartsfield and his wife Jenny; four grandchildren, Randell Yancey, Jeanna Benefield, Allison McGinley, and Dane Gaskins; one great granddaughter, Cassidy Webb. Bill has two surviving brothers, Gordon Lee Hartsfield, his wife Mimi, and Jack Hartsfield. Bill was preceded in death by his brother Judson Hartsfield. Bill’s brother-in-law and sister-in-law Raymond and Helon O’Barr were very close to him. Bill is survived by twelve nieces and nephews. Bill was greatly loved and respected by all who knew him. Bill was a true man of God, a follower of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Bill Hartsfield will be missed! We will have a family celebration of Bill and his life.
