POWDER SPRINGS — Authorities say they plan to file charges against a 19-year-old driver in a deadly collision that took place Friday afternoon in Powder Springs.

Cobb Police say Andrew Polk of Powder Springs was backing out of a private driveway onto New Macland Road north of Macedonia Road in Powder Springs in a gold 2001 Toyota Camry when he failed to yield to an oncoming car.

Polk then collided with the car, a black 1999 Dodge Neon, on the left side, which was driven by 70-year-old Elaine C. Foust, according to Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Pierce said Foust was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, but died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the crash. Polk was also injured, but declined medical treatment, Pierce said.

Cobb police and the Powder Springs Police Department are investigating the wreck, and investigators plan to file charges, Pierce said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call (770) 499-3987.

I wonder if Ms. Foust was speeding? I think the limit there is 45 MPH.
Pray for both

Andrew Polk is a really good kid. This was an accident, and I surely hope he won't be charged with something crazy. Sometimes things just happen. I feel for the woman's family and his. Knowing Andrew, I am sure he is devastated.
