Chequers Seafood + Steak, 1401 Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta, announced its grand opening event May 20.

The restaurant, which relocated to East Cobb from Dunwoody after 31 years, had more than 120 guests for complimentary appetizers and drinks. There was also a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce.

The new location has 130 seats, including an outdoor, covered patio and a semi-private dining room.

Open for dinner seven nights a week, along with Sunday brunch, the restaurant will feature the original Chequers location favorites, along with new menu items showcasing fresh ocean fare and prime steaks. The new location’s Executive Chef is James Dennerline.

In addition to its diverse menu, Chequers Seafood + Steak will launch Happy Hour on the patio and bar, featuring $7 appetizers, $1 oysters and $3.50 lobster claws from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Sunday Brunch is served buffet style with items including made-to-order omelets, Belgian waffles and an assorted cold seafood display.
