Marietta-based eVestment recently released an education report that offers a unique perspective on the universities and colleges that have placed the most key professionals at institutional asset management firms. There were no Georgia schools ranked among the top 10 or 20, but the University of Georgia, the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University appeared on several of the lists.

Asset managers from around the globe provide a variety of data to eVestment, a global investment data analytics firm, including information on investment returns, asset flows and detailed information on their strategies.

This data also includes the educational backgrounds of the firms’ key professionals. eVestment’s report, based on the data, offers a look at the top alumni networks overall and weighted for school size, as well as regional rankings for key U.S. markets, firm roles, specific investment market segments and year of graduation.

The full report ranks 75 national universities and 11 liberal arts colleges. The top 20 schools nationwide, ranked in order by total number of alumni working as key professionals at asset management firms, are the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University, Columbia University, the University of Chicago, New York University, Stanford University, Northwestern University, the University of California – Los Angeles, University of California – Berkeley, Boston College, Cornell University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, the University of Virginia, Yale University, Boston University, Dartmouth College, Duke University, Princeton University and the University of Southern California.

The report offers a variety of other data, including top schools scaled for overall school size; top schools placing Bachelor’s and MBA graduates as key professionals at asset management; top schools by product strategy; top Ivy League, public university and liberal arts schools; and top schools by position within asset management firms. All 86 schools in the report have their own detailed pages, highlighting information specific to each school.
