TOCCOA, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia Army National Guard unit is preparing for deployment to Afghanistan.

Army officials held a departure ceremony Thursday morning for the 876th Vertical EN Company at the Georgia Baptist Convention Conference Center in Toccoa.

Officials say the engineer unit's work overseas will include repair, construction, plumbing and more.

Officials say the group from Toccoa will be deployed with nearly 150 guardsmen.
