ogram is coming to the Marietta Performing Arts Center at Marietta High School June 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. The program concerns the misuse of prescription opiates and use of heroin among teens and young adults in metro Atlanta.

“You may or may not be aware of the comeback of heroin and that heroin is becoming the drug of choice by college age and young adults,” says Marietta High Principal Leigh Colburn, noting the drug’s prevalence has local experts considering it an “unprecedented epidemic.”

Organizers say the program will bring together teenagers, parents, law enforcement, politicians, medical personnel, first responders, judges and educators to share their knowledge. A Facebook page has been set up called The Davis Direction containing more information.
