MARIETTA — A Marietta toddler is in critical condition after being rescued from the bottom of a swimming pool.

The 2-year-old child was found in the water at the Lakeside at Town Center apartments near Bells Ferry Road and Interstate 75, according to Officer David Baldwin with Marietta police.

The child, whose gender has not been released, was first taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital before being airlifted to to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Baldwin said.

How the 2-year-old wound up in the pool is being investigated, Baldwin said.
