Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit and run collision which left one girl dead and two others injured on Sunday.

Police say Tansu Kanlica, 27, of Atlanta was driving on Barrett Lakes Boulevard toward Shiloh Valley Drive at 7:18 p.m. on Sunday when he lost control of his silver 2004 Nissan 350z and swerved onto the sidewalk.

According to investigators, Kanlica struck three girls who had been walking on the sidewalk. One of the girls was pronounced dead at the scene, police say, while the other two were taken to Kennestone Hospital.

Police say Kanlica attempted to flee the scene after crashing into the girls, but was apprehended several miles from the site of the collision.

He is now in the county jail.

Investigators believe Kanlica was attempting to chase another driver he believed had stolen from him.

Police have charged Kanlica with reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, two counts of serious injury by vehicle, hit and run resulting in serious injury, and first degree homicide by vehicle.

Police have also charged the driver of the car Kanlica was pursuing, Garrett Anderson, 23, of Kennesaw. Anderson has been charged with theft of services, reckless driving, two counts of serious injury by vehicle, and first degree homicide by vehicle. Anderson is also in the county jail.
