ATLANTA (AP) — Police are searching for a hit and run driver in a fatal crash on Interstate 285 in northwest Atlanta.

Cobb County police spokesman Dana Pierce says 30-year-old Harry Maurent of Austell ran out of gas late Sunday night and was trying to cross a ramp between two highways when he was struck by a light colored SUV.

Authorities say the driver of that vehicle fled the scene and Maurent was struck by three other vehicles while he was lying on the road.

Police say the other three drivers are cooperating with police, but authorities are searching for a light sport utility vehicle — possibly a Saturn — with front end damage.
