The Cobb County Water System reported a sewer overflow occurred in the county Monday.

A wastewater manhole overflow, resulting in 180 gallons discharged into Noonday Creek, occurred at 4:50 p.m. Monday at 596 Wentworth Drive in Acworth. The overflow, which was the result of grease, was stopped at 6:20 p.m.

A jet machine was used to unstop the spilling manhole and clean the main line for 100 feet. Lime was also spread in a 10-foot by 10-foot area around the manhole.
