SMYRNA — This weekend, firefighters throughout Smyrna will be at Highland Station on South Cobb Drive and East-West Connector, The Crossings in front of Kroger on South Cobb Drive and Concord Road, and the South Cobb Festival Centre in front of Adventure Outdoors on South Cobb Drive and Windy Hill Road this Saturday and Sunday collecting funds for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation’s 25th annual “Give Burns the Boot” drive.

The GFBF was founded in 1982 by a group of DeKalb County Firefighters. Over the last 30 years, the GFBF has grown to incorporate the entire state and expanded its work to include all Georgians. In 1990, the “Give Burns the Boot” campaign was started to support the GFBF’s efforts. Since that time, firefighters have continued their support by collecting more than $13 million.

Donations can also be made online by visiting the Smyrna Fire Department GFPF page at bit.ly/1ijPUEe.
