ATLANTA — Cobb teachers were among educators across the metro area surprised with a huge donation from Google Atlanta this week.

To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day on May 6, Google donated $340,000 to fund every request from local teachers on DonorsChoose.org, an online charity where teachers seek the resources their students need most.

The funds will provide items ranging from pencils and markers to a karaoke machine and a new playground.

The donation includes 41 projects in Cobb County totaling $25,958.04, which will impact 4,031 students.

Throughout Atlanta, the donation will help more than 38,000 students.
