AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — A man apprehended after a shooting at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia, is facing charges that include aggravated assault.

Richmond County Jail records show that 20-year-old Xavier Deanthony Cooper also faces charges of having a firearm or knife during a crime; and having weapons in a school building.

Monday's shooting — the second in two days at the private school — left 21-year-old Paine student JaJuan Baker with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. The gunfire also led to an hours-long lockdown of the campus and several other schools in the east Georgia city.

A prayer service is planned for noon Tuesday on the campus about 140 miles east of Atlanta.

Authorities have said the shooter and the gunshot victim were likely involved in a fight before the shooting.
