MARIETTA — Cobb Superior Court Judge Mary Staley has started a one-year term as president of the Council of Superior Court Judges.

The council is made up of the state’s 209 Superior Court judges and more than 70 retired Superior Court judges. The council’s duties include state Superior Court judges’ budget development and administration; initiating and responding to legislative issues involving the Superior Court; adoption of uniform court rules; preparation of bench publications, including jury charge instructions and bench books; and certification of continuing judicial education. Staley is president of the Kiwanis Club of Marietta. She is married to Charles Clark, and the couple has two sons and three grandchildren.

This new responsibility will take a lot of time away from Ms. Staley's responsibilities to Cobb Taxpayers.

Can I assume that she will NOT be paid for her days away from the Cobb Superior Court?
