MARIETTA — Two young Marietta men were arrested Sunday after Marietta Police say a public gunfight outside an apartment complex on Franklin Road injured innocent bystanders.

Teodrick Hawthorne, who lives off Franklin Road, and Najahwan White each face felony charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

According to the warrant, two groups of men gathered at 861 Franklin Road “for the purpose of fighting.”

According to the warrant, Hawthorne removed a firearm from the trunk of a white Infiniti and opened fire in the parking lot, “along with other armed combatants.”

According to the warrant, a bystander who was walking with her children in the apartment complex was injured by a bullet shot from a handgun.

The warrant states White removed a firearm form his waistband, pointing it “on a crowd which contained innocent bystanders and additional combatants.”

According to the warrant, he then fired a round into the air before shooting at another man, who was fleeing the scene on foot.

According to the warrant, a witness specifically named and then identified both Hawthorne and White “via a photographic presentation.”

Both men were not granted bond and remain in the Cobb County jail.
