Herman Willard Duncan, age 86, of Austell, passed away April 29, 2014. Mr. Duncan served in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and the U.S. Army from 1950-1956. He retired in December 1988 from the Federal Aviation Administration after 34 years of service. He became a Real Estate Broker and worked for the Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors from 1993-2005. A member of Mableton First Baptist Church, he was active on the Building and Finance Committee. A member of Latham Lodge #12, F&AM, he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Preceded in death by parents, Everette and Tessie Murphy Duncan; brothers, Odell and Linward Duncan; and sister, Betty Jane Murphy, survivors include, wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jeanine Whiddon Duncan; sons, Dennis L. Duncan, Sr. of Macon, Dr. Dale R. Duncan and his wife Dana of Woodstock, and Dana V. Duncan and his wife Terri of Acworth; sisters, Duriene Glenn of Muncie, Indiana and Catherine Gallaway of Moultrie; and grandchildren, Lee Duncan, Jr., Elizabeth Hope Duncan, Sarah Jeanine Duncan, Isaac David Duncan, Laura Elise Duncan and Audra Claire Duncan. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2014 at White Columns Chapel in Mableton with funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday with Dr. Collins Glenn officiating.
