MARIETTA — A fatal car crash late Tuesday afternoon in north Cobb near Interstate 575 pinned a Woodstock woman in her vehicle before she was rushed to the hospital. At 4:28 p.m. Cobb Police were called to the intersection of Shallowford and Jamerson roads.

According to investigators and evidence from the crash scene, Marilyn McQueary of Woodstock, 59, was stopped in her gray 2008 Saab 93. Justin Jones of Marietta, 21, was in his blue 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee heading eastbound on Shallowford Road.

“For reasons unknown, (McQueary) pulled out in front of the Jeep while attempting to turn left onto westbound Shallowford Road,” according to Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb Police. “The Jeep struck the driver’s side door of the Saab in the intersection, pinning the driver inside her car.”

McQueary was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Jones was not injured in the crash.

No charges are expected to be filed in this traffic fatality crash, Pierce said.
