The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Cobb County will be May 2-3 at Jim R. Miller Park.

This year’s Relay is the fifth largest Relay event in the nation — raising nearly $700,000 for the fight against cancer last year. This year will be even bigger, thanks to supporters like Tracy Hahn, who is a breast cancer survivor walking in the Relay for herself and her mother, 89, also a breast cancer survivor. And there will be thousands of survivors like Hahn who will be participating in the Relay and walking the first lap, the survivor lap, to call attention to survivorship and the nearly 14 million cancer survivors now living in the U.S.

The Cobb Relay, like all 5,000-plus of Relays nationwide and in 20 foreign countries, are overnight events with teams camping out and walking around a track all night to raise money to fight cancer.

This year’s Cobb Relay has teams from corporations including WellStar, the presenting sponsor, Lockheed Martin, Walgreens, and many more, and most of the schools in the county.
