The WellStar Foundation was awarded a $19,500 grant by It’s The Journey Inc., producer of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, to fund mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women. The grant is one of 22 awarded by It’s The Journey this year to breast cancer programs across Georgia.

“We work all year for this one night — to present grants to the most deserving breast health and breast cancer programs in the state,” said Kimberly Goff, executive director of It’s The Journey Inc. “We want to ensure that these organizations can continue to provide services from basic clinical breast exams to hereditary screening and wellness programs. We are proud that our funds remain focused on local needs that make a difference in Georgia communities.”

It’s The Journey, Inc. produces the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, an annual walk to raise funds for breast health and breast cancer programs in Georgia. The 2014 Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer takes place Oct. 11 and 12.  All of the money raised will stay in Georgia.
