Spring is here! It is time to take advantage of beautiful weather and two outdoor art events on the downtown historic Marietta Square — First Friday Art Walk and The Marietta Square Artists Market.

First Friday Art Walk:

Art Walk happens once a month on the first Friday of every month from April through October. The rain or shine event is from 5 to 9 p.m.

“(Art Walk) is an evening stroll around the sidewalks of the entire Square to discover new artistic talents and new local businesses you may never have seen before. A festival atmosphere brings a fun, relaxed vibe to the end of the week,” said Mary Koronkowski, executive director of the Branding Project that oversees the Art Walk and The Marietta Square Artists Market.

“First Friday Art Walk is creating an art community of excellence on the Historic Marietta Square. The event is a free, self-guided tour of the Marietta Square’s eclectic art scene spread out along the sidewalks at the galleries, museums, cultural venues, restaurants and boutiques. The atmosphere is lively, and the crowds are friendly,” she said.

“The Art Walk committee is a group of dedicated volunteers that is committed to bringing an enjoyable, high-quality event to our community every month from April through October. We welcome interested volunteers to come and be a part of the event. Art Walk is a juried event, and we are always seeking new artists to participate, as well,” said Koronkowski, an east Cobb resident.

The Marietta Square Artists Market:

The Marietta Square Artists Market is on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from April through November. The booth-style market is set up throughout Mill Street adjacent to the popular Marietta Square Farmers’ Market. The hours of the Market are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“The Marietta Square Artists Market is a great place to support your local talent alongside the local growers of the Farmers’ Market,” Koronkowski said.

“The Marietta Square Artists Market is an open-air, juried fine arts marketplace showcasing the best original creations available for sale by emerging local artisans,” she said.

Historic Downtown Marietta is the place to be on Saturday mornings.

“Reminiscent of the outdoor European markets, Marietta offers the best of locally-produced arts and produce Southern style. Adding to the relaxed atmosphere, families enjoy bringing their favorite four-legged friends out for a stroll at the market, too. This event promotes good health for both people and our environment. In that spirit, don’t forget your baskets and reusable totes to take home your finds,” Koronkowski said.
