The Gills married on March 22, 1964 at Grace Methodist Church in Atlanta. In honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, their children Candy Cook and Bart Gill asked, “What’ll ya have?” The Varsity — of course!
Candy and Bart hosted an anniversary celebration at the Towne Center Varsity where they decorated the party area with balloons, photos and memorabilia. Charlene wore a gold and diamond necklace given to her mother, Gladys, by her father, Austin, on their golden wedding anniversary on June 19, 1982.
The Atkins family was well represented by Babe and Bill Byrne, Anne and Gary Atkins, Harriett and Gene Atkins, Jennifer and Bill Atkins along with daughters, sons, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

On April 10, College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University is conducting its Spring Career Training Expo open-house event. Prospective students can learn about 10 of the colleges’ 50-plus professional certificate programs. The College of Continuing and Professional Education is known for these biannual expos in January and July. The Spring Expo is a new offering and gives the public an extended look at the following professional certificate programs at the following times:

On April 8, the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County present “Moving Towards Organics in the Vegetable Garden” with Amy Whitney of the Cobb County Extension. The Gardener’s Night Out program takes place at the Mountain View Regional Library, 3320 Sandy Plains Road from 7 to 8 p.m.
This is the opportunity to learn what organic gardening and farming really means, to identify your personal level of comfort in going organic and to determine the steps you need to have a more environmentally friendly garden.
